Toastmaster of the Day

Richard Sng, our Past President took control of the proceedings, highlighting the changes to the programme, and introduced the appointment holders.

 

Opening Address by Club President

“Who is the Speaker of Parliament?  Do we show concern for others?” probed club president, Soh Siew Wee. “We are fortunate in Toastmasters and to members who offered us their knowledge.”

Prepared Speeches

Ta Susiwati, presented her AP1 Warm Up the Audience (Humorously Speaking), “Family. What does it mean?”

 

“A Difficult Decision” was Kenny Lim’s AP2 Let’s Get Personal (Storytelling) presentation.

 

Kelvin Tan narrated his AP2 Speaking in Praise of “The Discipline Master, My English Teacher”.

Successful Club Series

Albert Anto presented a timely reminder and refresher talk, “Closing the Sale”.

 

Special Talk

It was an enriching and enlightening interactive session, “Tackling Table Topics” by Lau Kwong Fook, (NUS Alumni Toastmasters club).

 

Fun with Table Topics

Soh Siew Wee had no short of short of speakers.  Nine took the challenge!

 

Table Topics Evaluation

Lau Kwong Fook offered his take to each of the speakers, useful and helpful.

 

Language Evaluation

“Unique” was introduced as the Word of the Day by the VPE NTU Alumni TMC Flex Tio, being only his second language evaluation, a commendable effort.

 

Timer

Rampur, had a challenging role, listening to the splendid speeches and presentations, and handling the timing device.

 

Ah Counter

Ta Susiwati, took upon an extra appointment, a role in effective listening.

Foo Kok Jin (NTU Alumni TMC), Davis Tan (Joo Chiat Culture TMC) and members of Changi Simei TMC were among our guests. Feedback from them included “a rich and structured meeting, a very meaningful and well-spent afternoon, have learnt a lot, appreciate the variety, very high standard, very vibrant, happy to spend an afternoon here, learnt a lot, never thought I would visit another TM club, everyone is so close”.

Christmas Meeting

It was another inspirational speech delivered by Soh Siew Wee.

 

 

 

Prepared Speeches

Neil Sarno, delivered his P10 Inspire Your Audience, “Sowing the Right Seed”.

 

“20/20 Vision” was Tri Nguyen’s P7 Research Your Topic presentation.

 

Joshua New was unable to attend to present his P1 maiden speech.

V. Krishnan gave a special presentation on the importance of Mentoring.

 

Special Talk

Everyone enjoyed the fun, hands-on and light-hearted session “Communicate with Cartoons” by Ng Chang Hsiang, (IFPAS Toastmasters club).

 

Brain Teaser

This segment, led by Tri Nguyen highlighted among other things, liars!

 

Fun with Table Topics

Kenny Lim managed to have David Kow, Krishnan, Gina Li and Kou Lin to speak on the topics: what letter to write to Santa, the first person to give a present to, most creative item in the room.

 

Language Evaluation

Comments on the ‘hiccups, mixed-ups, thumbs-ups’ of the spoken English were given by Kevin Tan.

 

Timer

Lisa Ooi, a Past President was tasked to take on this role.

 

 

Ah Counter

Ta Susiwati, who made a comeback after breezing through her ‘A’ Level examinations recently, took on this appointment.

Refreshment Break

Grapes, bananas, fragrant pineapple rice, roast chicken and an edible Christmas tree using toothpicks and creatively made up of broccoli, tomatoes, cauliflower and radish, filled the table. We even had wine!  Three Cheers! . . . to the unseen hands who cooked and prepared the refreshments for us!

 

Christmas Carols & Gift Exchange

Members gathered in a circle. Carols were sung and presents were passed around.  The present in our hands was ours when the music stopped.  Hurray!

What did you get?  . . .  something edible, useful, practical?

 

Guests

Among our guests were a couple and Gina Li, Hairong’s younger sister who flew in from Shanghai for holidays in Singapore.  Welcome Gina!

 

Six Club Presidents attended the meeting!
