Zainal Abidin, the SAA called the meeting to order, requesting us to give our take on Gangnam or the bus fare increase.
Toastmaster of the Day
Albert Anto, IPP introduced the programme and the appointment holders.
Opening Address by Club President
Soh Siew Wee continued her anecdote of the tortoise and the hare. Her message: stay calm, be observant, analyse the situation and challenge any problems.
Kevin Tan, took the challenge to speak on a topic thrown by the TMD, instead of the five topics handed to his evaluator. For his AP1 Speak off the Cuff (Specialty Speeches), he tackled “I Boast Myself as a Change Maker”.
“Fengshui” was Kenny Lim’s A5 The Abstract Concept (Speaking to Inform) informative speech. He encouraged us to take the right action, focus on our good deeds and education towards the path of success.
Li Hairong reminded us to “Be Gracious” in her P5 Your Body Speaks speech, narrating the common happenings and incidents involving commuters in the train.
Karinna Boey shared her experiences in “Cakes & Bakes” P4 How You Say It speech. Success is not immediate. One needs patience and passion in baking.
For his AP5 Bringing History to Life, Zainal Abidin’s “Civil Relationship” delved on the political and personal issues between political adversaries Lee Kuan Yew and Mohamed Mahathir, and their strained relationships.
Evaluator: Speech presented by:
Richard Sng Kevin Tan
Kevin Tan Kenny Lim
Ta Susiwati Li Hairong
Kenny Lim Karinna Boey
Richard Sng Zainal Abidin
Two speakers had to double up as speech evaluators. The speakers benefited much from the valuable feedback dished out.
Just 4 (For) Laughs©
Zainal Abidin stepped up with a medley of humorous anecdotes . . . about who is more successful, the men or the women . . . and the immigration officer.
Everyone had to recite a tongue twister, selected from the three given. Ta Susiwati was the Tongue Twistmaster (She must have the longest tongue!).
Fun with Table Topics
Kevin Tan had to take on a third role. Ta Susiwati, Albert Anto, Joshua, Li Hairong, Tay Juet Hui, Karinna Boey, Richard Sng, Soh Siew Wee, Kenny Lim and Zainal Abidin effortlessly handled the topics, distributed to everyone before the session. The speaker made their pick of the member for the choice of the unknown topic.
We were not privileged to have this segment for the meeting.
Our Past President Tay Juet Hui offered his opinions, made his comments and gave an overview of the outdoor meeting . . . the various meeting roles and appointments, and different aspects of the programme.
Li Hairong had an added role, despite having to focus on her speech.
Karinna Boey, a project speaker also had to take on another appointment.
Awards Presented to:
